The Maharashtra government on Friday (May 1, 2026) inaugurated the much-awaited ‘Missing Link’ project of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, which aims to reduce travel time and bypass the risky ghat stretch near Lonavala in Maval district. However, the launch also coincided with heavy traffic at the Bhor Ghat, triggered by car breakdowns and commuters ahead of the long weekend.
Speaking to The Hindu, the Highway Traffic Police opined that the traffic piled up due to the breakdown of many cars due to the extreme heat and the long weekend.
