On Friday (May 1, 2026) morning, five more bodies were recovered from the Jabalpur boating tragedy from the Bargi Reservoir. Rescuers faced a difficult moment when they found the body of a mother clutching her son; in her last moments she tried to protect the four-year-old child under a life jacket. A total of nine bodies have been recovered so far, while divers continue to search for four more victims, including three children.
A diver from the Indian Army’s 411 Parachute Field Company who recovered the bodies of Marina Messi and her son Trishaan, a resident of Delhi, said: “It was very difficult to pull her out as she was holding her son. They were stuck behind a small window (in the cruise ship) and it proved difficult to get them out as the mother’s grip on the child was unrelenting.”
