Amazon is considering reviving reality TV series The Apprentice, with Donald Trump Jr. appears as a potential host according to many reports.
The first talks are starting about The Apprentice revival for Prime Video
The discussions, first reported by Variety , remain in the preliminary stages, with the project not yet in active development. Sources indicate that there have been no formal talks with the Trump family about participating in the proposed reboot.
However, at a recent Oval Office executive signing, a reporter from Fox News asked POTUS if Donald Trump Jr. will return as host of the rumored revival of The Apprentice. Trump commented: “Well, I heard that. So we’ll see what happens. He’s good. He’s a good guy. I guess he’s good. He’s got some charisma.”
The original The Apprentice aired from 2004 to 2017 and was hosted by Donald Trump, becoming a defining feature of reality television in the early 2000s. The program followed a group of contestants competing in business-related tasks, with eliminations decided in a boardroom. Each episode usually ended with Trump uttering the catchphrase “You’re fired”, which became widely recognized.
Amazon gained access to the show’s catalog following its acquisition of MGM in 2022, giving it the rights to reimagine the format for its Prime Video streaming platform. Internal talks about reviving the series have reportedly taken place, although the company emphasized that no concrete plans have been finalized.
An Amazon spokesperson said any current news about casting or production details is speculative and reiterated that the show is not in active development.
Donald Trump Jr., who previously appeared on the show as an adviser along with other family members, is among those considered to take over the role of host if the project moves forward. However, people familiar with the matter said he had not been formally contacted.
The potential reboot comes as streaming platforms continue to overhaul established formats in an effort to attract audiences with familiar brands. Industry analysts note that reality TV has faced a slowdown in recent years, with fewer new programs achieving long-term success compared to previous decades.
If revived, the show would likely air on Prime Video rather than return to traditional television. The move could also signal Amazon’s continued interest in content associated with the Trump family following its acquisition of other related projects.
The idea of a reboot gained attention due to the program’s cultural impact during its original run, when it helped elevate Donald Trump’s public profile out of business and into mainstream entertainment.
Despite the renewed interest, the future of The Apprentice remains uncertain, with discussions still at an early stage and no official announcement regarding production, cast or release timelines being made.
