Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday directed officials to identify and clean up street vendors operating along dangerous walls across Bengaluru as a precautionary measure following the recent rain-related incidents. Two street vendors were killed and four were injured when a wall collapsed at the Bowring Hospital compound on Wednesday.
Mr. Shivakumar told reporters that instructions have already been issued to officials to survey such vulnerable spots and take immediate action. “Vendors should not be allowed to operate near walls that pose a risk. Officials have been told to identify such areas and ensure they are cleared,” he said.
