As many as 700 companies or 70,000 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) will remain deployed in West Bengal until “further orders”, an Election Commission of India (EC) official said, even as the second and final phase of voting ended on Wednesday (April 29, 2026).
Two hundred companies or 20,000 employees out of a total of 700 companies have been assigned to secure the vaults where the electronic voting machines are stored.
