To maintain law and order during the assembly elections and prevent election-related offences, the Greater Chennai City Police has deployed 23,000 personnel and 31 companies of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in all polling stations while beefing up security at locations identified as vulnerable and sensitive.
There are 24 assembly constituencies within Greater Chennai City Police (GCP) limits, of which 15 are fully covered by the jurisdiction and nine are partially covered.
