Rent issues continue to plague many across India, especially in metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru. Among them is a 24-year-old software developer who left the Internet split with a month’s rent. She revealed that she lives in a fully furnished 3-BHK (bedroom, hall and kitchen) room in Bengaluru for a monthly rent of Rs. ₹24,000.
Bangalore Lake View Room ₹24,000
She described her single room as “average” and shared why the rent is worth it. She peeked into her room overlooking the “lake” and the “cherry blossom” tree. Although the room has a separate toilet and a balcony, netizens believe that it was not worth it.
“I’m paying ₹24,000 for one average sized room in Bangalore. But then there are times when I think it’s worth it,” user Isha Arora said in an Instagram video.
She continued to look around her room. “The room itself is pretty average,” she said, pointing to the window. Showing her view, she added, “But if you look on the other side of the bed, this is what I wake up to every morning.”
She showed a tree in full bloom with pink flowers.
“These cherry blossoms are so beautiful.
The young professional also took the audience to her balcony. “On the other side of my bed is a beautiful, beautiful lake. So beautiful. You get it.”
“Grateful,” her video continues.
Sharing the video, the user further questioned the netizens, “Is it worth it? 24k rent in Bangalore!”
Debate about Netizens
In response to her video, many agreed with the technician.
Among them, one user wrote in the comments: “Girl this is just wow.” “Worth it sis. In Gurgaon people pay 30k to look at another building that looks exactly like theirs,” mused another. Another user said, “You are god’s favorite child (crying emoticon) so you will find such a beautiful room in Bangalore.”
However, some people on the Internet did not think the rent was justified.
Someone commented: “We pay 24,000 for a 10,000 room. Landlords love tenants from the north (sic) for this reason.”
“What do you do when the cherry blossoms aren’t in bloom… You wake up to dry leaves… Thank god for the lake,” added another.
Another said: “24,000 for a room! Wow… I’m sure you can get similar views elsewhere.”
Another said: “The pink flowers in Bengaluru are actually Tabebuia rosea, not true Japanese cherry blossoms (Sakura).
Neither agree nor disagree, the user pointed out in a comment: “Wow 24k. That view is priceless, but that’s a lot of rent.”
Arora also elaborated in the comments. She added, “For context. I’m paying for a 3BHK room which is also fully furnished.” While her share of the rent is ₹24,000, she claimed that the total rent for the apartment is ₹70,000.
