An average screen use of more than six hours a day is considered excessive and can lead to stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances and reduced social interaction, experts said in a webinar organized by The Hindu on Saturday (April 25, 2026).
In a webinar titled ‘Impact of screen time on mental health in adults and children’, Maria Antony, Consultant Psychiatrist, Sri Mamallan Hospital, Kancheepuram, and Ashwini Tadpatrikar, Assistant Professor of Psychology, Vidyashilp University, Bengaluru, discussed the psychological and behavioral effects of excessive exposure to digital radiation.
