Both young batsmen were clearly intent on going in and the same approach was reflected in their aggressive start – albeit in a much more brutal fashion than the opposition expected.Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 10 runs but Sooryavanshi kept his dressing room promise. He smashed 103 off 37 balls in his second IPL century, hitting five fours and 12 sixes on his way to the milestone.

The previous fastest record was held by Australia’s Mitchell Owen, who reached the mark in 533 balls.Sooryavanshi’s hundred was the third fastest in IPL history, behind Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century in 2013 and his own 35-ball hundred last season. However, despite his explosive knock, Rajasthan Royals ended up chasing Sunrisers Hyderabad by 228.“As we started to leave the lot, Yash Bhai said, ‘Vaibhava, you will come today my friend.’ So I also said, ‘Yes, we are going today. Aaj kuch nahi karenge, sirf chakke maarenge (When we won the toss and went in, Yash bhai said, ‘Vaibhave, today let’s come out and attack.’ So I also said, ‘Yes, let’s come out and attack. We won’t do anything else today, we’ll just hit sixes),” said Jaiswal-roomavanshi, who was getting dressed.Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins was also full of praise for the young batsman.“I think he’s my new favorite player,” Cummins, who bowled against the best batsmen in the world and took 315 Test wickets, told reporters.“He hits the ball so hard, it’s great to watch. It’s good fun. As a bowler, you have to be right because if you’re not, it goes a long way. He’s impressive.”Cummins added: “He’s had a great start to his career. I love the way he’s playing. He’s moving the game forward.”Sooryavanshi has been in great form in IPL 2026, scoring 357 runs so far, including two 15-ball fifties at a strike rate of 234.86 in eight matches.“It’s not clear… he’s India’s most devastating T20 opener,” former England captain Michael Vaughan wrote on X.The teenager has also faced world-class bowlers, including Mumbai Indians’ Jasprit Bumrah, and even crushed him for 6 over a wide long-on in their first meeting earlier this month. His performances led to increasing calls for him to be quickly included in the senior Indian team.
