Dropping Sanju Samson for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was ‘the most bizarre selection’: Sanjay Manjrekar questions India’s decision

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Sanjay Manjrekar Former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar questioned India’s decision to drop Sanju Samson for the second T20I against England as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got his international debut, saying the move made no sense. When Manjrekar made the X after the match, he welcomed the 15-year-old’s debut but wondered why Samson was left out of the playing XI.“Great to see Vaibhav in India colours. But what about Samson! Did he fall? Are you kidding me!” written by Manjrekar. He then added: “No, I think (Samson was) injured. Hopefully it’s an injury. Or it’s the most bizarre selection.”Manjrekar also hinted that India could have included both players in the playing XI. “(Samson) could easily bat at 3 if you wanted to get Vaibhav,” he wrote. Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old batsman from Samastipur in Bihar, on Saturday became India’s youngest international cricketer, breaking the record held by Sachin Tendulkar for almost 37 years. However, his debut did not go as expected. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who opened the innings with Abhishek Sharma, scored just 14 off 10 balls, hitting two sixes before being dismissed.India were posted 190 for seven but England chased down the target with four wickets in hand and over to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after the opening game ended.Jacob Bethell played an unbeaten 76 off 46 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes. The left-hander also took control of the chase by scoring 29 off Ravi Bishnoi to bring up his half-century and help England complete the chase in 19 overs.
