DC vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: The unbeaten Punjab Kings will look to maintain their perfect run in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season when they face an inconsistent Delhi Capitals team at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The contrast between the two teams is quite evident – PBKS have won five of their six matches, with one goalless, and sit at the top of the table. DC, meanwhile, have three wins and enough losses to sit sixth in points.
What makes Punjab so formidable is the stability in their line-up. Shreyas Iyer’s side have used just 12 players all season – the least staff used by any team – and that stability in selection has translated directly into role clarity.
Their batting unit was the best in the ten-team competition – their overall run rate rating is 11.3, they are the joint top-scoring team in the overs (11.3) and the top run-scorers in the middle overs (11 runs per overs). They hit 69 sixes – the second best for the team in the tournament – and simply did not allow the opposition to match.
Their openers, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, were the backbone of this dominance. Delhi-based Arya has 211 runs at a pace of 248 and his power figures are just as incredible: 152 runs at a pace of 258. Prabhsimran has matched him almost exactly – 211 runs at an average of 52.8, with a rate of 187 against pace.
As the opening pair, Arya and Prabhsimran continued the good work done in IPL 2025 – putting on 197 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 221. Behind them, Cooper Connolly emerged as one of the revelations of the season. Australia’s batting all-rounder scored 223 runs at 55.8 and, crucially, showed the temperament to absorb early wobbles before accelerating.
Captain Shreyas Iyer has a good name after scoring three fifties and returns to a place he is familiar with – having previously captained the Delhi Capitals, including being runners-up in the 2020 season. Iyer is all set to play an IPL game in New Delhi for the first time since 2019 and will be keen to give the crowd a great show from his willow.
PBKS bowling was about performing as a collective rather than being a one man effort. Arshdeep Singh, wicketless in his first three matches, found his rhythm and confidence and picked six wickets in his last three matches. Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett and Vyshak Vijaykumar have done their jobs well while Yuzvendra Chahal remains their main threat in the middle overs.
In short, PBKS is firing on all cylinders, and in order to derail its winning juggernaut, DC must find a way to bridge the gap between flashes of individual brilliance and collective execution. If Arya and Prabhsimran get going at their usual clip, DC will need their bowlers to take wickets quickly – something that hasn’t happened consistently.
DC’s run rate of 8.7 in the first six overs with the bat is the third lowest in the competition and the onus will be on openers Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul to deliver on that target, especially if they are to successfully chase anything above 200.
Beyond them, DC shuffled their batting order almost every game, and the constant changes to the impact player selection meant they didn’t reset the established combination. While David Miller was excellent in the death overs despite falling for a duck in the last over, Tristan Stubbs, despite adapting his game to the situations very well, needs to overcome his slow starts.
With the ball, Axar and Kuldeep Yadav need to be at their best simultaneously – something that hasn’t happened yet. Against SRH, surprisingly, they bowled only two overs each, although part-time off-spinner Nitish Rana bowled four overs and missed out on 55 runs.
Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan have been among the most economical bowlers in overs 17-20 this season and are DC’s best hope to bring the formidable PBKS batting line-up into the late innings. For now, another win for PBKS would ensure they maintain their best start to an IPL season, while defeat for DC puts them at risk of falling further behind in the tightening race to the playoffs.
