According to The Guardianafter giving her first official speech as a working royal in 2012, she described the experience as nerve-racking.
“I find giving speeches nerve-racking,” she said at the time.
Despite these challenges, she continued to speak as part of her role and gradually built up her confidence over the years.
Return to public speaking after treatment
The Princess of Wales returned to the public scene in November after undergoing cancer treatment earlier in the year.
She spoke at the UK Future Workforce Summit in London, where she spoke about the importance of embedding “dignity” and “tenderness” in the workplace to build a “happier and healthier society”.
Her appearance marked a significant moment in her return to royal duties and reflected both personal resilience and dedication to her role.
Tribute to Queen Elizabeth II
The reception at Buckingham Palace was also of emotional significance. It was organized on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
To honor the late monarch, Princess Kate chose jewelry associated with Queen Elizabeth II.
She wore a three-strand pearl necklace and Bahraini pearl earrings that had previously belonged to the Queen.
Kate has worn the earring on several high-profile occasions, including the Queen’s funeral in 2022 and Holocaust Remembrance Day services in January 2025.
Commemoration of the longest reigning British monarch
Queen Elizabeth II, who died in 2022 aged 96, remains one of the most influential figures in British history.
After ascending to the throne in 1952, she ruled for more than 70 years, making her the longest-serving monarch in the country’s history.
The centenary event served as a moment to reflect on her legacy and contributions.
Balancing responsibilities with personal challenges
Princess Kate’s candid remarks highlight the balance between public responsibilities and personal issues facing members of the royal family.
While the royal’s appearances often exude poise and confidence, her comments offer a more personal insight into the pressures of high-profile public life.
