The Save University Campaign Committee (SUCC) sought action against what it called the last-minute cancellation of the publication of Sri Tirthapada Puranam, an 11-volume biography of Chattampi Swamikal by the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS).
Although the release of the book, written by AV Sankaran, was included in the programs organized to celebrate the ‘samadhi’ of Chattampi Swamikal at the Panmana Ashram in Kollam on 19 April, it had to be canceled after Vice-Chancellor Ciza Thomas found that only four volumes had been printed while the other bound volumes were said to be empty in a box.
SUCC leader RS Sasikumar claimed that the incident had caused serious embarrassment to the university and sought an inquiry. V. Lissy Mathew, a professor in the Malayalam department and coordinator of the project, said the authorities were informed that printing had been completed for only four volumes.
