The Harur (R) assembly will see a two-cornered contest, but it would be a tough fight for the DMK for many reasons.
The constituency has consistently returned huge vote margins that propelled the DMK Lok Sabha candidates to their victories both in 2019 and 2024. Yet the people of Harur make a different choice during the assembly elections and consciously choose to break with the DMK as evidenced by the winning margin. The AIADMK won the mandate for three consecutive terms in 2016, 2019 and 2021.
