Union Minister Suresh Gopi on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) visited the site of the devastating fireworks blast at Mundathikode near Thrissur in Kerala and took stock of the situation as investigations gathered pace with a strong forensic focus.
Forensic experts are currently examining the blast site and the minister said more clarity is expected after detailed analysis. “Further checks will be carried out using additional dead dogs to assist in the search,” he told reporters, stressing that forensics would be a priority in the investigation. He added that key samples needed to be taken from the site to determine the cause of the explosion.
