As reports of clashes emerged in key assembly constituencies in West Bengal on Monday (April 20, 2026), the incidents have raised security concerns over the free and fair conduct of elections in the state.
The clash took place at an Indian Secular Front (ISF) rally in Bhangar when Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters staged protests and tried to block the rally. Sitting MLA and ISF candidate Nawshad Siddique led the demonstration. The TMC supporters who gathered in large numbers raised the slogan ‘Joy Bangla’ targeting the ISF rally.
