ANDAt a recent collectorate conference in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged District Collectors (DCs) to play a proactive role in attracting investments to complement the efforts of the State Investment Promotion Board, State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), AP Economic Development Board and other agencies. At the district level, there are District Industrial Promotion Committees chaired by DCs.
These collectors have their work cut out for them as the CM has decided to assign ranks to districts based on how much investment and jobs have been created and the speed of doing business (SoDB). These DCs are expected to not only hold meetings with potential entrepreneurs but also convince them to set up units in their districts. Further, the CM wants DCs to focus on providing fast-track regulatory clearances to set a benchmark for SoDBs.
