Former ministers, former AIADMK MLAs who joined TVK meet Chief Minister Vijay in Panaiyur

Former ministers and former AIADMK MLAs, who recently defected to the ruling TVK, called on party president and chief minister C. Joseph Vijay at its headquarters in Panaiyur on the outskirts of Chennai.

Mr. Vijay, who arrived at the party headquarters on Saturday afternoon, met former AIADMK ministers C. Vijayabaskar, MR Vijayabhaskar, Kadambur C. Raju and Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan. He also met former AIADMK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel, P. Sathyabama and others who had joined the TVK.

TVK sources said it was the first time the new leaders met Mr. Vijay as they all joined the party in the presence of party general secretary and rural development and water resources minister N. Anand and other ministers.

According to sources, the meeting lasted for about an hour during which Mr. Vijay welcomed the new inductees and held discussions with them. Former SS Minister Vaigai Selvan, who recently resigned from the AIADMK, also joined the TVK on Saturday and challenged the Chief Minister.

Earlier in the day, several former AIADMK functionaries joined the TVK in the presence of Mr. Anand at the party headquarters. Mr. Anand assured the new inductees that they would get posts in the party after discussions with Mr. Vijay and urged them to cooperate with the existing TVK functionaries.
