Labor Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy emphasized the need for meaningful judicial reforms to further strengthen the justice delivery system in a democratic country.

Addressing the National Legal Conclave organized by the Indian Youth Congress at FAPCCI, the minister said that democratic values can flourish only when both the government and the judiciary function effectively within their constitutional domains while maintaining a healthy institutional balance.

The conclave saw the participation of lawyers, law students and Youth Congress leaders from across the country to discuss constitutional values, strengthening the judiciary, protection of democracy and other contemporary legal issues.

Mr. Venkatswamy said reforms had been introduced over time in various sectors, including politics and media, and stressed that similar discussions should be held on the necessary reforms in the judiciary. He noted that governments tend to become stronger when judicial institutions are weak, hence the need to maintain a proper balance between the executive and the judiciary.
