Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal called DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin a “liar” and accused him of being “anti-women” during an interaction with reporters in Udhagamandalam on Saturday.
Speaking about the constitutional amendment to introduce reservation for women in the defeated legislatures, he said the INDIA bloc, including the DMK, “does not want to give women, my sisters, the daughters of India, their rightful share and participation in defining and deciding the destiny of India,” he said. The government was prepared to table an amendment that would increase the number of seats compared to the current structure, but Mr Stalin was “spreading a false narrative”.
