Sweltering heat coupled with high humidity has made daily life miserable in the northern districts of Kerala even as the maximum temperatures have hovered between 32°C and 40°C in recent days.
Palakkad recorded the season’s highest temperature of 40.1 °C on April 10, which was 3.4 °C above the long-term average of the region. In Kozhikode, the season’s highest temperature of 37.2°C was recorded on April 16, a deviation of 2.6°C above normal.
Kannur airport recorded a temperature of 38.1°C last week. Maximum temperatures in Kasaragod, Malappuram and Kannur districts also remained above the seasonal average. In Wayanad, the maximum temperature continues to hover around 32°C.
