The Madras High Court on Thursday (16 April 2026) agreed to hear on Friday (17 April 2026) two writ petitions, one of which broadly accuses many DMK candidates of issuing coupons worth ₹8,000 to voters in view of Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections and another accusing AIADMK candidate Royapuram Mano alias R. Manohara of distributing tokens worth ₹10,000 in Chennai’s Harbor constituency in particular.
First Division Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G. Arul Murugan accepted advocate AP Suryaprakasam’s request for an urgent hearing of the case filed by him against the DMK candidates and said the case filed by advocate K. Raveendran against the AIADMK candidate would also be heard on Friday if both get the number on Friday.
