Scientific bio-mining operations to completely clear the century-old waste mound at Njeliyanparamba, which has long been an environmental problem for the people of Kozhikode, are progressing.
According to Kerala Solid Waste Management Project (KSWMP) officials, once the waste is cleared and the land reclaimed, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will set up a compressed biogas (CBG) plant at the site. Seven acres of land will be handed over for this purpose, with the first three acres to be transferred by the end of May.
