The Cabinet on Thursday approved the Karnataka Rohith Vemula (Prevention of Discrimination, Exclusion or Injustice) (Right to Education and Dignity) Bill, 2026, which was widely discussed but stuck in red tape for long.
Briefing the press after the Cabinet meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil said the bill – which aims to protect the right to education and dignity of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, teachers and non-teaching staff in institutions of higher learning – would be moved during the next legislative session.
