
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Women’s Reservation and Delimitation Bills in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, April 16. He said the three bills, introduced in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, and the women’s quota bill would not discriminate or do any injustice. He assured that the bills would not benefit any political party. “If you oppose me, I will get political benefit, but if you encourage the use, no one will benefit,” PM Modi said.
The Prime Minister also lashed out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and even mocked the DMK for his black-clad protest and thanked them for warding off the evil eye of ‘Kala Tika’ on currency notes.
Prime Minister Modi’s speech in the Lok Sabha came after Union Law Minister Arjun Meghwal introduced three bills – Constitutional (131st Amendment); the Delimitation and Union Territories (Amendment) Bill to implement the proposed amended Women’s Quota Act in the Union Territories of Delhi, Puducherry and Jammu and Kashmir – in Parliament, leading to an uproar.
