The Andhra Pradesh government is set to launch 62 new Anna canteens in rural areas, taking the total number across the state to 269. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu will formally launch the second phase of Anna canteens at Dharanikota in Pedakurapadu constituency of Palnadu district on 15 April 2026.
The government currently runs 207 Anna canteens serving around 2.10 million meals daily at a subsidized rate of ₹5 per meal. Of the existing canteens, 204 are located in urban areas under municipal corporations and municipalities and three are functioning in rural areas. With the addition of 62 new rural canteens, the government is taking affordable and hygienic food services to villages, according to a press release here on Monday (April 13).
