Mumbai rains LIVE: Mumbai is on red alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for “heavy rainfall”. As the financial capital braces for a heavy downpour, the warning will remain in place until July 6. Authorities warned of disruption to daily activities due to the adverse weather conditions and even issued emergency numbers.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a post on X listed areas on IMD red alert and provided emergency numbers for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Panvel as a precautionary measure. The post said, “Heavy rainfall forecast over Mumbai-MMR, Konkan and Ghat areas of central Maharashtra from July 4-6.
Warning of disruption to public travel services, the Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office added: “Heavy rainfall has been forecast for Mumbai city along with Raigad, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts from July 4 to 6. In addition, there is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in Ghatnetra, central Satara and Purakshi areas during this period. Local travel disruption and some structural damage cannot be ruled out during this period.”
