Minister for Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Sharan Prakash Patil said a cabinet sub-committee will decide on cloud deployment.
He was addressing media persons after a meeting in Raichur on Friday (July 3). “There is certainly a lack of rain, but it was not a complete failure. The sub-committee will take a decision on cloud seeding,” the minister said.
“The district has recorded 41% sowing so far. Farmers have time till July 15 to cover the unsown areas. We are hoping for rain in the coming days. However, drinking water would be given on priority using the availability of water in the Tungabhadra dam instead of irrigating crops,” he said.
He reiterated that the Union government had not supplied fertilizers to the state on time, leading to their shortage. The state has taken measures to manage the situation with available supplies.
Dr. Patil said the district was facing shortage of doctors in government hospitals due to internal reservation issues. Now the issue has been resolved and the department has been directed to fill up the vacant posts, including doctors, immediately.
When asked about the lack of coordination between officers at the gram panchayat and other departments, Dr. Patil replied that nodal officers at taluk level were appointed to deal with problems at gram panchayat levels.
The minister said the SIR process is under the control of the Election Commission and BLOs are appointed by it and not by the state government. However, the state ordered officials to ensure a proper and fair trial.
When asked about the Ramanagara incident where the SIR process was conducted in the kalyana mantapa, the minister said that if it happened, it was wrong and action must be taken against those responsible.
