Communication should be there. #Indiancriket,” Jaffer said.

It wasn’t clear from the National Cricket Academy or the captain or the coach. I got stuck at 36, went on to 37 and wondered what to do next. At least if someone has played that much cricket, they deserve respect,” he said.“I feel those who are at the end of their career need clarity. I didn’t get it, neither did Zaheer Khan, Virender Sehwag or Harbhajan Singh. The captain, coach or selector, whoever it is, should sit down with the player and explain how he sees things,” he added. It was Dhoni who gave him a clear and honest perspective during this uncertain phase.“I spoke to MS Dhoni. We spoke on the phone. He gave me the right perspective. He had nothing to gain but he saw what was happening,” Yuvraj said. Even then he insisted on his own decision. “I was told that if I couldn’t pass the fitness test I should consider retiring. I said I would make my own decision to retire,” he revealed.Yuvraj last played for India in June 2017 against West Indies and announced his retirement from all forms of international cricket in 2019.
