Alyssa Healy has said she would like to see India and Australia meet in the Women’s T20 World Cup final on English soil later this year. On Sunday 8 March, Healy said goodbye to international cricket on a high note, led Australia to a 10-wicket win over India by Harmanpreet Kaur in a day-night Test at the WACA in Perth.
Australia also clinched the multi-format series 12-4 after their dominant performance in the pink ball Test. Healy, who will be replaced by Sophie Molineux as Australia’s next captain, thanked the Indian team for touring Australia immediately after a hectic Women’s Premier League schedule.

“I’ve had my time in the sun. Thank you to the Indian team for coming up after a busy WPL and for coming up to fight in the T20 and giving us everything and being here for five weeks. Good luck in the T20 World Cup. The India-Australia final will be a nice one,” Healy said at the post-match presentation.
India and Australia have met only once in the Women’s T20 World Cup final, with the Aussies claiming an 85-run victory in 2020. Alyssa Healy was Australia’s star as she scored a match-winning 75 in front of a packed crowd at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
HEALY IS GIVEN A REMEMBERABLE FAREWELL
As her remarkable international career drew to a close in Perth, Healy received an emotional and heartfelt tribute from teammates and opponents alike. After Australia’s dominant victory, Healy was seen off the field and her teammates honored her with a special gesture that highlighted her impact on the game.
Seasoned players such as Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner celebrated her and praised her leadership, fierce competitive spirit and contribution to Australian cricket over more than a decade.
Ahead of the Perth Test, Healy had a fitting farewell in the limited overs format. In her last ODI against India in Hobart, she produced a breathtaking innings of 158 runs off 98 balls to guide Australia to an impressive 185-run victory.
Healy’s husband, fast bowler Mitchell Starc, was a constant presence throughout the series, even watching her final ODI from the commentary box and proudly applauding her milestones.
