A case has been registered against an AIMIM MLC, a former corporator and several others for obstructing officials during an anti-encroachment drive at Murgi Chowk that left a police constable injured.
According to the FIR, a case was registered by the Hussaini Alam police on the basis of a complaint lodged by the constable of Charminar police station.
The incident occurred on Saturday (April 4, 2026) morning during an operation by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to remove illegal encroachments along the stretch from Lad Bazaar to Puranapul.
Around 10:15 am near Murgi Chowk, a group led by Sahil, son of former corporator Md. Ghouse, along with MLC Rahmath Baig and others, formed an illegal assembly and tried to prevent GHMC officials and police personnel from discharging their duties, police said.
The complainant alleged that the group was behaving aggressively, disrupting the site and interfering with the demolition drive. During the confrontation, the constable was allegedly manhandled, with one of the accused grabbing him by the collar and pushing him, causing him to lose his balance and suffer a fractured right arm.
The police further said that the accused used abusive language against the constable as well as the GHMC employees, thereby degrading public servants and disrupting official proceedings. The group is also accused of inciting others present at the venue, leading to a disturbance.
