The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) won the World HRD Congress Award 2026 in the category of “Best in Training and Organization Development” at a ceremony held on Tuesday, March 31, in Kochi, Kerala.
The award recognizes KSRTC’s extensive and structured training initiatives implemented across five training centres. “These programs cover fuel conservation, refresher courses, accident-free driving, road safety awareness and simulator training. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ansuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) scheme, heavy vehicle driving training and free driving licenses are provided to scheduled caste candidates in collaboration with the transport department. Similar initiatives are being implemented in official partnership with the Directorate of Minorities and Minorities.”
KSRTC also offers driving training to private candidates while newly recruited drivers-cum-conductors, technical staff, constables and junior assistants undergo induction training. Special programs are conducted for supervisory staff along with refresher courses and capacity building training for administrative staff. More than 12,000 employees have been trained in the past six months, which officials say reflects the scale and impact of these initiatives.
Latha TS, Board Secretary and Public Relations Officer, along with AS Geethanjali, Director, Regional Training Institute, Hassan, received the award on behalf of KSRTC.
