Ahead of the first match of the season, Chameera said that it is a dream for him to play in the IPL and the aim is to play for Delhi whenever he is called up.
“It’s a dream for every player, including me, to play here. I’ve been part of the Capitals since they were established for a few years, including last season, and I hope that if I get the opportunity, I can perform well,” Chameera said.
‘Staying Mentally Prepared’
The Sri Lankan will be busy as Delhi still is without the services of Mitchell Starcwho arrives late in the IPL. The pacers have been riding high in the tournament, but Chameera believes sticking to plans and staying mentally prepared will be the key to survival in the IPL.
“We know that in India the conditions favor batsmen with good wickets and smaller pitches, so it’s always tough for the fast bowlers. Mental preparation becomes very important. If we execute our plans well, we can still succeed. So we focus a lot on both training and staying mentally prepared.”
“Also compared to the last 3-4 years, if a fast bowler concedes around 35-45 runs in four overs, that is still a good performance. We are discussing our plans in detail and analyzing everything to be at our best,” Chameera said.
Temper also expressed his confidence that DC can break the home win streak in the IPL this season.
