
Actor Nicholas Brendon, best known for his role as Xander Harris in the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at the age of 54.

In a statement, his family said Brendon died in his sleep on Friday. No other details about the cause of death were immediately released.
A statement from his family read: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the death of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed away in his sleep of natural causes. Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he has brought to life over the years. In recent years, Nicky found his passion in painting and art. Nicky loved sharing his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans. Those who knew him and were infinitely sensitive, understood his art, he was endlessly passionate. one of the purest reflections of who he was, although it’s no secret that nicholas had struggles in the past, took medication and treatment to manage his diagnosis, and at the time of his death was optimistic about the future, as we mourn his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination and heart, we thank all who showed love and support.

He is survived by his family, who have requested privacy during this time.
