A 20-year-old college student drowned in a river while swimming with friends in Rajapuram on Friday evening (March 13).
The deceased was identified as VM Ashwin Raj, 20, son of Ravindran and Giriji of Thonikkal, Karakkode. He was a third-year undergraduate student at St. Louis. Pius X College, Rajapuram.
According to the police, after taking a bath, Ashwin jumped into the river to retrieve the bucket but was swept away by the currents.
Although the locals brought him to the shore and took him to the hospital, he could not be saved.
