The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between India and New Zealand has caught the attention of the entire cricketing world, with both teams reaching the title race after strong semi-final performances after a tough Super 8 stage. The match is being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.Earlier this year, India defeated New Zealand 4-1 at home in the five-match T20I series. However, the final comes with a different pressure. No host nation has ever won the T20 World Cup and no team has defended the title in the tournament.

Former Australia wicketkeeper Brad Haddin said New Zealand opener Finn Allen could be a big threat in the final. Allen scored a century against South Africa in the semi-final.“If he (Finn Allen) gets to the final, he’s one of the players who can spoil India’s party at their home ground. If I was in the tournament in India, the only team I wouldn’t want to play in the final is New Zealand,” Haddin said on the Willow Talk Cricket Podcast.Haddin also said that New Zealand will not be afraid to play in Indian conditions. He pointed out that the team has already shown that they can challenge India in their home conditions.“New Zealand are not afraid of India at home. They beat them here in the Test series. So if they can go into it with that mindset and Fin Allen can play with the freedom he has, they can put real pressure on India. I’m going with New Zealand,” he added.Former Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon also shared his view of the final and backed New Zealand to win. He said that captain Mitchell Santner could play an important role with the ball against India.“I will go to the final with New Zealand. The biggest key for India is the way they play Mitchell Santner. He is the captain of the team and he has been very economical, especially on these pitches,” said Lyon.
