US-Iran war news LIVE: Trump seeks ‘denuclearization of Iran’ amid Tehran’s conflicting claims at Doha talks | Today’s news

US-Iran war news LIVE: Iran has denied reports that it has any talks planned with the United States in the coming days, rejecting speculation that its delegation’s visit to Qatar is linked to talks with US officials.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei told a press conference, according to Fars News Agency, that “there will be no negotiations at any level with the American side in the coming days.” He also clarified that the purpose of the Iranian delegation’s visit to Qatar is solely to oversee the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), especially Article 11, and is not related to the trip of US representatives to Doha.

Baghaei further stated that discussions on a comprehensive or final agreement have not yet begun. He explained that according to Article 13 of the 14-point MoU, formal negotiations could only begin after the implementation of Articles 1, 4, 5, 10 and 11 had begun, which was ongoing.

He noted that these provisions are designed as confidence-building measures that must be put in place before negotiations expand. Article 11 specifically requires the United States to provide Iran with full access to its frozen or restricted funds through mutually agreed upon procedures and to provide the necessary licenses and authorizations to facilitate such access.

White House announcement

Meanwhile, the White House announced that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s top adviser Jared Kushner are scheduled to travel to Doha on Tuesday for talks with Iranian officials. The talks come as diplomatic efforts continue following recent tensions and military exchanges in the Strait of Hormuz.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told Fox News that the meeting was arranged at the request of Iran. She said President Trump remains committed to advancing the peace process and urged Tehran to reach an agreement with Washington as technical discussions continue under a 14-point memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities in West Asia.

Earlier in the day, Trump also claimed that Iran was seeking a meeting with the United States following a recent military escalation, and said talks would take place in Doha on Tuesday. However, Iranian officials say there are no technical meetings planned with the US this week.
