Andhra Pradesh is likely to see normal to above normal maximum and minimum temperatures from March to May, according to the “Seasonal Temperature Outlook During Hot Weather Period” issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday (February 28).
Between March and May, barring most of North Coast AP and one or two pockets in Rayalaseema where normal day temperatures are likely, the rest of the state i.e. Central AP and Rayalaseema may see above normal maximum temperatures. The probability of the same is 33.5% and 45%, the report showed.
Meanwhile, most of the state may see normal minimum temperatures during the three-month period. A few pockets in south coastal AP may record below-normal minimum temperatures, while a few pockets in north coastal AP and those sharing a border with Karnataka and Telangana may record above-normal minimum temperatures, according to the report.
In March, maximum temperatures in the state are likely to remain between normal and above normal and minimum temperatures will be normal for most of the state. AP State Disaster Management Auhority (APSDMA) Director General Prakhar Jain said that central AP may experience more heat days than usual.
Mr. Prakhar Jain asked people to keep all sun protection precautions ready. If possible, white paint can be applied to the roofs or thermocol boards can be installed.
In its weekly forecast, IMD-Amaravati predicted that isolated places in the state may experience fog on March 1. In north and south coastal AP, minimum temperatures will drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius by March 3.
While there will not be any major change in the maximum temperatures in the state in the next three days, they may rise gradually from March 4 onwards, according to the forecast.
