Veteran BJP leader BS Yediyurappa was blessed in Shikaripur on the occasion of his 83rd birthday on Friday.
Responding to the felicitations, he remarked that his only aim is to bring the BJP to power in the state again by sweeping across Karnataka. Stating that he would make an honest effort to bring the party to power, he urged party leaders to work with him.
The former chief minister said he was satisfied with the work for the development of downtrodden communities. He claimed that the Bhagya Laksmi scheme implemented by him had brought light into the lives of millions of girls.
Similarly, he attached importance to irrigation to ensure that farmers get a breather, he noted.
BJP state president and Mr. Yediyurappa’s son BY Vijayendra recalled that his father had worked as a legislator eight times, apart from being an MP and serving as Leader of the Opposition.
He thanked the people of Shikaripura by declaring that they had ushered Mr. Yediyurappa into the country.
The felicitation program was attended by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and a large number of BJP leaders from across the state.
