BRS Working President KT Rama Rao and several BRS MLAs visited former MP and MLA Balka Suman and others in Adilabad Jail on Tuesday. They are imprisoned in a case related to the alleged attack on Minister G. Vivek.
After meeting Mr. Suman and others, Mr. Rama Rao said that the people had taught the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a lesson in the municipal elections. He alleged that the Congress party threatened, terrorized and physically assaulted the BRS candidates and the ruling party also made a mockery of the result in some municipalities by encouraging defection of members/councilors of the BRS and other parties.
In Kyathanpally in Mancherial district, the alliance of BRS (10) and CPI (4) won 14 of the 22 councilor seats, but the Congress, which won only 7 seats, defeated democracy by misusing power, especially by Mr. Vivek. Such tactics were also used in Ibrahimpatnam in Rangareddy district.
When Mr. Suman and others questioned the excesses of the ruling party, cases were filed against them. However, former MLA T Jagga Reddy and Nizamabad MP D Arvind, who used unparliamentary language against the police on duty on the day of the municipal elections, were not touched even after complaints.
He later visited the under construction IT tower in Adilabad and said it was approved by the previous BRS government to spread the fruits of IT development in the state as well as in remote areas like Adilabad. The completion and operation of the first phase would provide employment opportunities to about 700 youth and the second phase would create an additional 6,000 jobs.
At the closed Cement Corporation of India unit there, he said it was the responsibility of BJP MPs and MLAs to restart the company.
