More than 3.5 million children will be covered under the Pulse Polio drive in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi South MLA Allamprabhu Patil on Sunday launched the National Polio Immunization Program by administering polio drops to children under five years of age at the Municipal Primary Health Center in Shivajinagar near Aland Check-Post in Kalaburagi.
The inaugural program was organized by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, district health and family department and district RCH office as part of the nationwide Pulse Polio campaign, which will run till Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Patil appealed to parents to ensure that every child below the age of five gets the mandatory two drops of oral polio vaccine.
He said the campaign will begin with immunization on the first day at designated booths, followed by door-to-door visits by health workers over the next three days to deal with children who cannot be brought to the centers.
Officials said 3,51,716 children under the age of five are expected to be covered in Kalaburagi district during the four-day campaign.
A total of 1,519 vaccination booths are set up for the first day, 1,453 house-to-house teams, 132 drive-through vaccination teams and 31 mobile teams will be deployed in the remaining three days.
A total of 1,682 teams supported by 333 supervisors and 3,364 vaccinators will participate in the district-wide immunization campaign.
District Health and Family Officer Sharanabasappa Kyatanal delivered the inaugural address while RCH District Officer Siddu Patil welcomed the gathering.
Kalaburagi North MLA and Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Chairman Kaneez Fatima joined the program and administered anti-polio drops to the children.
