A 35-year-old man on Friday stabbed his elder brother over a marital dispute at their residence in Mylasandra Begur, Electronic City.
The incident took place around 10.30 pm when the accused, identified as Anthony Raj, allegedly attacked his elder brother Yesu Balaraju with a knife following an argument related to his estranged wife.
According to the complaint, Raj, an alcoholic, had been living separately from his wife for the past two years and was undergoing treatment at a rehabilitation center for mental health issues. His wife left him and married another man, and their two children stayed with their grandmother.
He reportedly returned home about 20 days ago and often quarreled with family members due to his marital problems.
On the night of the incident, Raj allegedly picked up a knife and tried to stab Balaraju, accusing them of being responsible for the separation. Despite the efforts of the family members, the accused stabbed Balaraju several times before fleeing from the spot.
Family members called an ambulance, but Balaraju died of excessive bleeding.
Based on a complaint lodged by their mother Lurd Mary, the police have registered a case and are trying to trace him.
