The state government’s tourism policy is aimed at public welfare and helps increase the income of local communities, said PA Tourism Minister Mohamed Riyas.
Inaugurating the Global Responsible Tourism Meet at Cheruvannur in Kozhikode on Saturday (February 7), he declared Beypore an international model responsible tourism destination.
Mr. Riyas said that by enabling planned and people-oriented tourism, handicrafts, food and traditional industries are gaining importance. “This ensures that the benefits of tourism reach even the most ordinary sections of society,” he said.
As part of the Responsible Tourism initiative, 112 units are currently operating, many of which have received financial assistance from the government, the minister added.
