A table talk organized by the district committee of the Kerala Muslim Jamaat here on Saturday urged the major political parties to take the lead in reorganizing districts in the state to address inequities in resource distribution.

“The development and welfare schemes of the Union and State governments should be allocated in proportion to the population. Yet Malappuram district with a population of nearly five million is not getting its fair share,” the discussion pointed out.

“The problem is not limited to Malappuram; several districts are facing similar disparities. Restructuring certain districts can help correct this imbalance,” Jamaat Muslim District Secretary KP Jamal Karulai said while welcoming the participants.

Inaugurated by District President Vadassery Hasan Musliar, Chief Scientist Syed KKS Thangal Faizy presided over the session.

The discussion was led by senior lawyer and rights activist Mr. Pouran. Other speakers included P. Shabeer, Noushad Manserry, Kpo Rahmatullah, vs Joy, Abdul Wahab, Mujeb Pullichola and Tajudhe.

Regional Secretary ap Basher Chellakodi moderated the discussion and Shuaib Ankkayam proposed the vote of thanks.
