Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy took a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and accused Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy of protecting BRS chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao and BRS working president KT Rama Rao in alleged corruption cases.
Mr. Reddy alleged that there is massive corruption in the Kaleshwaram project and that crores of crores have been wasted. He asked the BJP leadership why no action was taken despite the matter being referred to the CBI and demanded clarification as to when KCR and former minister T. Harish Rao would be arrested.
At a public meeting in Nizamabad on Friday, he claimed that BJP and BRS were politically aligned and urged voters not to “waste their votes” for either of them. He targeted BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind and questioned his failure to secure Smart City or airport status for Nizamabad. “Is the Prime Minister required to clean the sewers in Nizamabad?” he asked, alleging that BJP leaders are seeking votes without bringing tangible development.
Cong. flag
Mr. Reddy said that the Congress party will soon hoist its flag in the Nizamabad Municipal Corporation and also in seven municipalities of the district, signaling a decisive political shift. Known for its rich history and agricultural heritage, the district deserved transparent governance and inclusive development and the Congress would ensure it.
Recalling the contributions of former ministers Mandava Venkateshwara Rao and Sudarshan Reddy, the Chief Minister said they had served with honor and left behind an unblemished record. But there was nothing but corruption during the BRS.
Referring to the remarks leveled against him, the Chief Minister said he had no objection to being identified with any community. “Whether my name is Revanth Goud, Revanth Madiga, Revanth Mudiraj, Revanth Yadav, Sardar Revanth Singh or even Revanthuddin, I have no problem,” he said, adding that he would take all castes and religions together on the path of development.
Reiterating that the Congress would remain in power in the state for another eight years, he assured that bringing an airport to Nizamabad was his responsibility, pointing out that airports have already been sanctioned for Warangal and Adilabad.
A winning duo
Describing himself and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud as a “winning duo”, the chief minister recalled that the Congress was voted to power in the 2023 elections when he served as PCC president and Mahesh Kumar Goud as working president. He said the same winning combination would repeat itself in 2029, with Mr Goud taking over as TPCC chief and him leading the government as chief minister.
