A 34-year-old lawyer was allegedly murdered by her brother during an ancestral property dispute at Kethireddypally village in Moinabad on Wednesday morning.
Moinabad inspector Pavan Kumar Reddy said the victim, Swapna, 34, was a practicing advocate at the Chevelle court. “On Wednesday, she went to the family’s farmland to discuss the division of the 10-acre ancestral property, which has been a source of conflict in the family for several years,” said an officer.
According to investigators, Swapna and her brother Raju were at loggerheads after their mother divided the land, allotting a larger share to her son and a smaller share to her daughter. Police said Raju suspected that his sister intended to sell her share, further escalating the tension.
The argument between the two turned violent when Raju along with the group attacked Swapna with a knife and sticks. “She collapsed on the spot and the locals rushed her to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead,” the police officer added.
Moinabad police registered a case and started investigation.
