A court on Monday (February 2) found the accused guilty of murdering a youth from Chalad near Payyambalam beach in Kannur. The case was heard by the Second Additional District and Sessions Court of Thalassery, which will deliver the verdict on February 4.
The incident took place after midnight on December 13, 2018. The victim was identified as Prime Minister Shaiju (41) of Chalad. The accused, MV Sreeguru, 44, a native of Vypin in Ernakulam district, was working as a site manager at Payyambalam at the time of the incident. Both the accused and the deceased lived in a shed at Payyambalam.
The investigation was initially led by police officer TK Ratnakumar and later completed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Pradeepan Kannipoyil, who filed the FIR. The prosecution questioned several witnesses, including police officers, doctors, scientific experts, corporate employees and tax officials.
