Music festival in memory of Bhimsen Joshi in Dharwad tomorrow

To mark the 104th birth anniversary of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, the GB Joshi Memorial Trust will organize a music festival called Swar Zhankar at the Alur Venkatrao Cultural Hall in Dharward on Wednesday.

In a press release issued here on Monday, organizer Sameer Joshi said the program is part of the ongoing Bhim Palas Music Festival series through which the trust is honoring the legendary singer by organizing concerts on his birth and death anniversaries.

This year’s event is organized in collaboration with Kshmatha Samsthe supported by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and the Pune Violin Academy. Entry is free.

The festival will begin at 5 pm with a vocal recital by Saniya Patankar of Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana.

This will be followed by a violin performance by Pandit Tejas Upadhya, followed by a vocal concert by Pandit Anand Bhate of Kirana Gharana.

The accompanying artists are Pandit Bharat Kamat, Anurag Alurkar (Pune) and Pandit Suyog Kundalkar on harmonium.
