The Thiruvananthapuram City Police has announced traffic restrictions and parking arrangements in connection with the T20 International cricket match between India and New Zealand to be held at the Greenfield International Stadium in Karyavattom on Saturday.
Traffic regulations will be in place from 14:00 to 24:00 on match day to cope with the expected increase in vehicular traffic around the stadium.
Parking will be strictly prohibited on both sides of the Kazhakuttam-Ambalathinkara-Karyavattom National Highway, Ambalathinkara-Kumizhikkara road and Stadium Gate 4-Kurishadi-Karyavattom road surrounding the stadium. Illegally parked vehicles or vehicles causing traffic obstruction will be removed using recovery vehicles and legal action will be taken against the drivers.
Traffic diversions will also be in place during the period. Vehicles traveling from Thiruvananthapuram towards Attingal have been advised to avoid the carryavatom-sreecarry route and instead use the alternate routing route of chakka, ullooor-akkulam and script. Similarly, city-bound vehicles from Attingal will be diverted to veturoad-chanthavila-Kattaikonam-chempazhanthy-sreekaryam route.
During heavy congestion, only vehicles of ticket holders from areas including Vetturoad, Kazhakuttam, Karyavattom, Chavadimukku, Chenkottokonam and Pullanivila will be allowed into the stadium while other vehicles will be diverted.
Reserved parking spaces were arranged in several places. Two-wheelers can be parked near the stadium entrance, Jama-ath Muslim parking lot at Ambalathinkara junction and along the Ambalathinkara-Technopark road.
Cars and other light motor vehicles coming from Attingal side can park at Al Saj Convention Center and Kerala University campus at Karyavattom. Vehicles from Sreekaryam and Kattaikkonam should use the parking lot at LNCPE, University College and B.Ed College along Karyavattom-Pullanivila road.
Additional parking has been arranged at the Anayara World Market parking lot in Venpalavattom and the Karikkakom Temple parking lot for vehicles coming from Thiruvallam and Chakka. A free shuttle service between the parking lot and the stadium will be operated by the Kerala Cricket Association to transport spectators.
