The White House announced that during a visit by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Tuesday (local time), the United States and Saudi Arabia finalized deals involving civilian nuclear power and the sale of advanced US F-35 jets, AFP reports.
The two countries approved a “joint declaration” on civil nuclear energy that “builds the legal foundation for a decades-long, multibillion-dollar nuclear energy partnership” under “strict nonproliferation standards,” the White House said in a statement.
President Donald Trump has approved a “major defense sales package” that includes upcoming deliveries of advanced US F-35 fighter jets.
Speaking in the Oval Office alongside Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Trump noted that the deal is not urgent because Saudi Arabia already has access to “more oil than almost anyone else,” The Hill reported.
